The Tattoo Tutor
Begin the journey on your path to becoming a skilled professional tattoo artist with an in-depth tattoo apprenticeship at one of our award winning tattoo shops
Our program is based on the apprenticeship program we use in both of our award winning shops and is a combination of online and on-site training. The majority of this program is completed in your home through a series of interactive instructional modules that offer a proven step-by-step learning program where you will complete assignments and interact with your instructor via phone, skype, or email. Once you have completed the on-line portion of our program you will be invited to spend a minimum of one month, or more if necessary, at one of our two shops tattooing actual clients under the guidance of your instructor. There is no limit as to how long you can spend in our shops becoming proficient at tattooing, you are encouraged to stay as long as needed.
Learn From Anywhere
You will have access to a unique online portal containing many hours of tattoo specific digital material that has been specifically created to duplicate the program we use when training new tattoo artists in one of our two award winning shops.
One-on-one Expert Mentorship
Just like the training provided in our shops, you will be personally mentored by one of our successful, working artists. You will be able to interact directly with your mentor throughout your training which allows for greater understanding of all of the aspects of professional tattooing.
On Site Training
Having successfully completed the online portion of your training, you will begin the on-site tattooing portion of our program through which you will create your initial portfolio of professional quality tattoos.

In a process that duplicates an apprenticeship in one of our shops we work individually with each person to identify and improve their weak areas while building upon their strengths.

The digital nature if our program allows the apprentice the flexibility to view the instructional videos and complete the related assignments from the comfort of their own work space.
Clear Learning Goals
Our program is modular in nature and as such each module builds upon skills developed in the previous modules following a structured format that proceeds in a logical step-by-step pattern.
Set your own learning schedule
As with our on-site apprenticeship program we require a minimum of 16 hours per week but with the flexibility of online learning you decide when you complete your weekly 16 hours of work assignments.

We are the owners and primary artists of two award-winning shops and we have been successful in training skilled tattoo artists, a few of whom have gone on to establish their own shops as well as win awards at tattoo conventions.
Award Winning Tattoo Artist
Our Program is quite unique in that you are being taught and mentored by actual award winning tattoo artists working in an actual tattoo shop. You will not only receive in-depth personal instruction, you will also receive documentation of your successful apprenticeship.
Upon starting my apprenticeship with The Tattoo Tutor I was excited to start tattooing, but like any skill I needed to learn how to walk before I could run. Doug and Lily work together and independently teaching art and drawing techniques as they relate to tattooing. They both have different teaching and art styles that make working with them, and finding your own style, fun and encouraging. I actually learned more about drawing and design from them in my one year long apprenticeship than I honestly did in my four years of Art College.

When I first decided to become a tattoo artist I found it difficult to find a shop offering an apprenticeship. I had heard that shops would train you while you did odd jobs around the shop. I eventually got an apprenticeship like this and learned nothing about art, drawing or tattooing for the year that I apprenticed. I then applied for an apprenticeship with The Tattoo Tutor and learned more in the first 3 months than I did in the whole year with the “help around the shop” apprenticeship. Best decision I ever made.
